History

Founded in 1976, The New Depot Players has been the resident theatre troupe of the Conyers/Rockdale Community. The brainchild of Linda Wise, our stages have seen many participants go on to make theatre their life’s calling. After more than 34 years, we remain committed to offering all members of our community the opportunity to experience live theatre, and to engage them in the process of creation.

For many years we were known simply as The Depot Players, and our home was the old train depot (now home to the Conyers Welcome Center). Eventually, in the early 1990s we left The Depot in search of a new home. For a few years, we even tried out different names! Realizing our roots to The Depot were still strong, we adopted the name The New Depot Players. It’s all pretty simple, actually. That probably explains the train in the logo…

Typically we offer a season of 4 productions, including one musical. Our rich history has brought to the stage Tennessee Williams, Rogers & Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Studs Terkel, Neil Simon and the works of many, many more.

If you are a regular audience member for our productions, we thank you for your loyal following throughout the years. If you haven’t found us yet, come see us and experience the fun of live theatre! Don’t be shy…
