Sunday, April 25th, 2010 has been proclaimed Atlanta Boy Choir Day!
Mayor Randy Mills was in attendance when The New Depot Players brought the Atlanta Boy Choir Concert to Rockdale Auditorium. In fact, all 3 of the choirs put on a 2 hour concert for over 150 in attendance that Sunday afternoon. The New Depot Players Board member Judy Mauran headed the committee that organized the event and dealt with tuning pianos and orchestrating the setup and loading of all the instruments, chairs and choir members for the wonderful performance.
Directed by their founding director and conductor, Fletcher Wolfe, the Atlanta Boy Choir presented a diverse selection of music.
This year marks the 52nd season for the Atlanta Boy Choir. Throughout the years, they have been a staple of the arts in the Metro Atlanta area. Their worldwide concert tours have included performances abroad for many heads of state, as well as five performances at St. Peter’s in Rome with Pope John Paul II officiating. They have appeared several times at the White House, and a performance at the United States Capitol Rotunda. The Grammy Award-winning Boy Choir has appeared many times with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and they are planning a European Concert tour this summer that will provide the group with once in a lifetime opportunities to sing in major concert halls and cathedrals abroad.
The New Depot Players is excited to have brought the Atlanta Boy Choir to town this year, and we hope you will join us again next year for an afternoon of beautiful music in Conyers.
Places, Everyone ~ We have a place for you!
